A Healthy Eating Style

When you hear the words “eating healthy”, do you really know what it means? Many people don’t have any idea of what is healthy for their body, and what is not.

This is where the Australian Food Pyramid comes in handy so people can get an idea of how they should be eating if they are truly wanting to live in wellness.  It can be quite an eye-opener for many.

Of-course, you may already have a really good idea, but many don’t.

5-Healthy-Eating-Style

As I say, I would like to see some more changes yet but not sure we’re going to see it anytime soon. The mainstream nutritionists and dietitians are pretty set in their thoughts, chiefly because it’s the way they’ve been trained.

I come more from a naturopath’s angle of thinking, not only because of my training but because of my deep research of many years.

Were there any surprises for you?
How closely to the AFP do you think you are eating?
Where do you differentiate?

How close to 5 – 9 serves of vegetables and fruit would do you think you come to within a day… every day?

The American food pyramid is sort of a joke – a sad joke. Grains are on the bottom.
So glad to hear you tell people NOT to count calories. Since we’ve changed the way we eat, I’m sure my calorie load is so much higher – but I haven’t gained any weight and my husband has lost 50 pounds!

So true Lisa! Counting calories is SUCH a drag… and so unnecessary. People need to concentrate on building their health rather than on how much they weigh. Every MOUTHFUL MATTERS on the journey to health… it’s either bringing you closer or taking you further away.
This doesn’t mean that we can never indulge along the way, but we need to make sure it’s only ever ‘here or there’ rather than becoming a habit.
Losing 50lbs is massive… well done! Husbands usually eat what their wives put before them, so much of the congratulation goes to you Lisa.
Healthier eating and drinking can make a huge difference to our overall mass, this is because we learn that the very things that add to our weight are usually quite unhealthy.
