Have you heard of Time Restricted Eating?
This will not be for everyone but I have added it as I’ve found it so helpful to me…
35-Time-Restricted-EatingCould you go 16 hours, within a 24 hour period, at least a couple of days a week without eating? Some may react to this immediately. That’s OK if you are not ready or don’t believe you should.
For others, let me say, I have never found this hard to do. I sometimes tend to do it more days of the week as well.
Considering you are in bed for a good portion of it, going without food for a few hours is not a biggy.
Remember that the first meal of the day is really breakfast… it’s when you break – your – fast! You are not really doing without it.
A Digestive System Break
As I have said in the lesson, it’s just a matter of limiting the time span that you consume food, which in turn, gives your digestive system a bigger break
If you decide to begin doing this, that’s great. But… if you wake up one morning when you’ve scheduled it in and you’re starving hungry… for heaven’s sake, have some breakfast!
I want you to listen to your body and if it’s screaming ‘nutrients please!’ then give it some nutrients.
Some people do better in the evening. Your body will tell you… and your circumstances will dictate to you also.
My husband works at rotating shift and has various days off in the week as he has to work every second weekend. We like to have breakfast together, so of-course on those days, I break my routine. It’s nothing. Go with the flow.
The other thing I’d like to mention is… please don’t stuff yourself to try and make up for the meal you missed! Once again, here I come saying… listen to your body. But, having said that, I encourage you to make sure you eat sufficient at meals times that it keeps you going through to the next main meal. Don’t think that by having only a little breakfast/lunch you’ll get by… normally you can’t.
Don’t eat anything, whether you’ve finished your plate or not, once your body announces that its had enough. You’ll get used to it… don’t beat yourself up if you get up from the table having eaten too much… just learn from the experience and it will make you stronger next time. 🙂
Have you ever tried Time Restricted Eating?
What has been your experience?
A short time ago I bad belly possibly from eating something that was maybe a little off.
I decided to go with water only for almost a day and a half. Didn’t feel hungry.
Felt so much better as a result and possibly learnt I was eating too much.
Hi Keith!
That was a clever thing to do! You did well. Basically, most of us do eat too much, and especially as we get older, our bodies do not need as much food. This is why you see so many ‘older folks’ overweight.
