Avoid These Fats!

Oh dear, this also is an important lesson… maybe they all are!

There has been so much a-do about which fats and oils we should be consuming and which to leave alone.  Take a look:

Another medical myth busted!

Because we have been lied to for so long, it can be hard to retrain your thinking.  Things that we have been taught are good for us are not necessarily so.  We ask ourselves, should I eat this or that?  We don’t know anymore.  Some throw their hands up in the air and say things like “Eat whatever you like because everything will give you cancer anyway!”

That saying makes me feel quite distraught!  You know, there is no guarantee, even if you did everything I’m suggesting, that you won’t get cancer.  We have to take into account what you’ve been consuming right up until this point.  But the evidence is that if we can steer clear of certain foods we will have a much better chance of living cancer-free lives.

When they use countless sprays, genetically modify, poison our atmosphere with all manner of things that kill our trees and poison our ground and water supplies, it’s a tough one to compete against.  But we must do what we can.

The very name ‘vegetable oil’ sounds healthy doesn’t it?  But you saw the great amount of conditions that these oils have been linked to.  They are far from a healthy option and the only way you are going to avoid them is to severely limit all processed goods.

Canola Oil Lie

I’ve seen people use Canola Oil for their cooking requirements.  I’ve seen how after they have used it, they leave it sitting on the cook top or bench waiting to be used again next time.  Reusing oils causes free radicals to be created which cause all kinds of problems in your body.  It’s best, wherever possible, to use only sufficient oil for a one-off cooking.  I don’t recommend deep frying anyway.

I’ve seen many people buy margarines in the belief that they are buying a healthy option.  It doesn’t matter what it says on the packet, or what it originally came from… such as olives, margarines are not recommended for a healthy diet.

Don’t worry, we’ll cover the healthy ones in the next lesson.  🙂

Tell me, where are you up to on the ‘fats and oils’ issue?

Thank you Mary. Yes our groceries have been inundated with foods we should not be consuming, but most people don’t know it. Sad really.

You’re welcome Mary! All these oils ‘sound’ healthy don’t they? It’s all in the way they process them.
