You must become used to Reading Food Labels

This is not a very long lesson.  It didn’t appear to be necessary to me to go into length talking about all the different things you should look out for when buying tins, packages and the like.  This is because I believe you need to forgo buying them to start with.  Anyway, have a look…

33-Food-Labels

Now for a little fun… test your knowledge!  Try to decide which set of ingredients belong to which food item…

The Food Labels Quiz

To continue… really you shouldn’t be buying anything that contains a long list of ingredients because you can be almost, not always, assured that a lot of the ingredients are not suitable for human consumption.  Awful.  Most everything that has been processed is not real food.

So, you may ask, what tins do I buy?

Good question!

Very few really.  I buy sardines in tins.  I usually try to have a few tins of organic coconut milk and cream on hand which I only use when baking certain recipes.  I buy tinned Alaskan Salmon.  I’m not sure I buy too much more, at least, I can’t think what they would be at the moment.

I do buy certain things in glass bottles.  Sometimes I buy crushed tomatoes if I can find the organic ones… but definitely only in glass.  Most of my food comes from the bulk food store where I often take my own glass bottles to fill.  He has many organic foods there, whenever possible.  I like that.

I like to go to the local fresh food farmers’ market and source organic produce there whenever I can.  I go for organic first, spray-free second, local third.  They are the three things I look out for when buying fresh fruit and vegetables.

No worries about ingredient lists!

So, do I have to worry about all the ingredients listed of cans and packages?  No I don’t have that worry at all.  Very rarely.  Helps to make life so much simpler, and healthier too.  I really do suggest you try it for yourself.

We have been talking about food here, but you do need to be just as aware with all things, such as skin care, cosmetics, bathroom products, laundry care, cleaning care etc.  The list of ingredients which to me are totally unnecessary contained within these items, is another nightmarish journey.  I have written an eBook called Hidden Traps which covers a lot of these types of things and what you can do about it.  I highly suggest that you read it as it helps to complete Wellness Solutions.  It’s available on the Blog page of Mouthful Matters.

Who’s with me?  Who is fed up with all the additives and have gone back to eating real food?
