Learning to listen to your body is of the utmost importance.  How long is it since we’ve taken any real notice of our body’s requirements?  We can’t even remember our early years when our parents were teaching us what to eat.

So how do we turn it around to begin listening to what our body is saying for ourselves?  Aren’t we used to popping into our mouth ‘whatever’?  Some people joke about being on a ‘see-food diet’.  What do they mean?  They see food so they eat it!  It can be a bit like that unfortunately.

We can begin our listening by working out if we truly are hungry or not.  Did the hunger hit you in an instant?  Are you craving a specific food?  (A person who eats for wellness may crave a little for a food because their body is telling them it requires certain nutrients that it may be lacking at the time.)  Normally, if you are hungry you’d eat ‘anything’!

Emotional hunger doesn’t allow you to feel full… you still need more… and so it goes on.

It’s so important that we know and understand these things as it puts us in a position of power to stand against it, once recognised.

Sometimes it can be quite simple to deal with just by doing something alternative…  get out into nature… look around you and marvel at what you see.

Have you suffered with emotional eating?  If so, have you understood that’s what is going on?  And if so, what have you done to counteract it?
